Today as I write this is Tuesday 25th May the Anniversary of the death of George Floyd, who was killed in Minneapolis, USA, by policeman Derek Chauvin on 25th May 2020. We pray for the life of George Floyd and with his family as the effects of his death still continue to this day.

So much has happened in the wake of George Floyd’s death, some good and some bad. Of course we have seen the rise of the Black Lives Matter movement and the raising of racial awareness amongst people & groups who had not thought of it before.

SOUTHWARK DIOCESE ANTI-RACISM CHARTER

The Church has been at the forefront of change especially here in Southwark Diocese we have made a Anti-Racism Charter within which are 12 point plan of developing leadership the full charter can be accessed here Southwark-Anti-Racism-Charter.pdf

In addition the Archbishops Anti-Racism Task Force issued the Report From Lament to Action on Stephen Lawrence Day 22 April 2021, a report which reflects on the many reports and recommendations issued in the previous 30 years but this time outlining the Actions needed along with proposals of who are to take the action and a date by when it must be done. You can access the report here FromLamentToAction-report.pdf

So we continue to pray for healing of a Global nation and for healing of those who suffer racism, we also pray for those who are racist that they may see the evil of their ways.

During the 11 days of TKC, commit to pray as a church for 24/1, or even 24/11, using the 24-7 Prayer virtual prayer room. It's so simple to set up a room for your church, deanery or even city, and encourage them to unite together in continuous prayer. Click here to create your prayer room.
'For TKC 2020 we felt that this was an important time for Christians across Oxford to gather together online to pray for the city. Working with churches leaders from all denominations, ...we set up a virtual upper room for the city. We were thrilled and encouraged to have over 200 people from at least 27 churches/congregations across Oxford join for prayer for 245 hours. Praise God!’ - Coordinator of the Upper Room, Oxford.’

For young children 3-11

Flagship children’s resource this year –The Cheeky pandas 11 part video series teaching children about the Bible through prayer, song, worship, word and interviews with high profile leaders. It is being used worldwide in the Church and beyond. For example – it is being televised in the UK- by several Christian Broadcasters and will feature on BBC Songs of Praise. Such is the demand for the resource, it is being translated into Korean and Finnish.

With contributors such as Bear Grylls, Gemma Hunt and ++Justin it should be great for all the family. This Sunday, we will be sharing the episode of CP with Bear Grylls, postponed due to HRH Duke of Edinburgh death. It will air at 4pm BST on Thy Kingdom Come’s YouTube and Facebook channels.
