For many years, St Luke’s Peckham has been twinned with the parish of Rogate & Terwick, near Petersfield in Hampshire. Minibuses travel up and down between the parishes at least once a year, and we’ve got to know each other well in that time. The ‘main event’ is the Rogation Sunday walk in May, when St Luke’s travel down to enjoy some country air by participating in the annual walk around the fields, woods and lanes, especially enjoying the bluebells and a slap-up tea in the church hall afterwards! The walk is an ancient tradition, and has several stops along the way to pray, sing a hymn, or bless the fields and woods. The day closes with evening prayer taken by both our priests in St Bartholomew’s Church. In recent years, they’ve also visited us for big occasions such as St Luke’s Day in October.
